GA4 – Time is running out

GA4 – Get started with your tracking now, so as to ensure your valuable business data is all in one place. Time is running out.

Google announced that they are stopping tracking through their current Universal Google Analytics in July 2023, and although that means you have plenty of time to get started and track data, what if you want to compare data on the new GA4 with the previous year?

Going forward, to be able to compare like for like data, if you have not started tracking your business information through GA4 at least one year before the transition date, then you will need to also use the data you have in Universal Analytics. So two tabs, split screens, and spreadsheets rather than a simple “compare” feature in the new GA4.

We encourage all users of Universal Analytics to start tracking on GA4 alongside it. This will mean that in August 2023 when you want a year on year comparison, you can do it easily.

To set up GA4, the easiest way is to create a property on Google, and then use the number within your Google Tag Manager account. There is a preconfigured tag that is really simply to use, and starts tracking data immediately.

After that, you need to consider your users, your conversions, your audiences if you are using Paid Ads, your filters etc.

If you need help with any of this, then please feel free to make contact and we will be happy to set up your GA4 now,, enabling you to start gaining insights, which will help you determine the direction of your online marketing, and also help you eliminate waste on your marketing budget.

If you are a direct SEO client, or a direct PPC client of M3SM, then we will have done this for you already as a part of the service.
